Application backlogs – Updates

Canada PR

95204 points dip in Canada immigration backlog as per Aug 31 data. Whereas for Canada PR we see – Aug 31, 2022 – 513,923 applications. Also, in comparison to July 17, 2022, (514,116) this figure is lower by 196 applications.

Temporary Residence

Aug 31, 2022 – 1,698,284 applications. Also, in comparison to July 17, 2022 (1,720,123) this figure is lower by 21,839 applications.

Citizenship

Sep 01, 2022 – 371,620 applications . And in comparison to July 15, 2022, (444,792) this figure is lower by 73,172 applications.

Besides, looking at the above details we can see the backlog slowly reducing for the first time in 2022. Because since July 2021, we have been seeing a strong and constant rise in the same.

Express Entry and PNP applications backlog update

Express Entry (EE) System currently has 40,180 applications waiting to be processed. Whereas last month this figure was 51,616. Now, this is 11,436 figures drop in applications. Thus, as

Some PNP sub-streams are linked with the EE System. As a result, the backlog for the same has been greatly reduced. Because Canada has been holding continuous EE PNP draws from Sep 21, 2021, to June 22, 2022. This is because Canada had to pause all-program draws (post-Dec 23, 2020) and CEC draws (post-Sep 14, 2022).

However, Canada held consistent EE PNP draws from Sep 15, 2022, to June 22, 2022. Post this, the country resumed Express Entry (EE) all-program draws on July 06, 2022.

IRCC making efforts to reduce application backlog at a faster rate

To reduce the ever-increasing backlog Canada is taking multiple steps to deal with the same. It is hiring 1250 staff members by Dec 2022 to collect and process visa applications at a faster rate. In addition, we are seeing multiple measures that will help Canada attract and retain Canada visa aspirants.

But irrespective of all efforts everyone wishes to know by when will the backlog reduce. Canada in such a case has shared backlog projections. It shares that the application backlogs will reduce majorly by the end of the year. With Canada PR and PNP category classes being left with 20% of the backlog. Whereas the family, spouses and children category PR applications will fall to 19%. Moreover, the Canadian citizenship applications are expected to fall 25% backlog remaining.

Irrespective of the projected backlog we should be able to see a fall in the same. Because Canada is taking steps and introducing measures to improve the current situation. As a result, it is favourable to apply for a Canada visa in 2022 and get the same soon in 2023. Because 95204 points dip in Canada’s immigration backlog as per Aug 31 data. And by the end of the year, we will see a further positive fall in the figures.
