July 05, 2023: First Express Entry Category based draw for STEM profiles held

500 invites for PR visa with 486 CRS cut-off in the First Express Entry Category based draw for STEM profiles held. Canada promised and now it is delivering positive Canada immigration results. This is clear from the fact that Canada announced its new Express Entry category-based draws and soon began conducting draws for the same.

Before the current EE draw for the STEM profiles, IRCC conducted the category-based draw for the healthcare profiles on June 28, 2023. Thus, looking at the new type of draw we can expect Canada to reach its immigration level target of selecting 465,000 PR visa applicants will come true soon.

Besides, the details of the July 05, 2023, first category-based draw for STEM profiles are:

  • Firstly, 500 applicants from Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math related occupations have an ITA for a PR visa.
  • Secondly, the CRS cut-off for the current draw is 486.
  • Also, the tie-breaking rule applied to this draw is November 23, 2022, 00:01:29 UTC.

Moreover, the current draw is:

  • 254th draw conducted under the Express Entry System.
  • 18th Express Entry draw of 2023 and
  • 2nd Express Entry Category based draw.

Why did IRCC conduct the First Express Entry Category-based draw for STEM profiles?

In the past few weeks, Honourable Immigration Minister Sean Fraser has announced multiple Canada Immigration updates. One of them is the starting of Express Entry category-based draws. As per Canada, the aim is to meet the country’s overall economic and labour market needs.

However, we can also base such a decision on the rise of job vacancies in Canada since 2022. However, we do so positive changes in the job vacancy increase. From an all-time high of 984,600 vacancies in the 2nd quarter of 2022, we now have 843,200 job vacancies in the 1st quarter of 2023. To aid this further, IRCC is updating Express Entry (EE) System draw patterns to offer a PR visa to a higher number of applicants.

This will quickly help Canada to fill its vacant job positions. And retain foreign-skilled workers as permanent residents of Canada. If you are seeking a Canada PR visa, then apply now. Because under the EE category base draws, Canada will target applicants from in-demand occupations, or high education level, or high skills etc. For 2023, the categories chosen by IRCC are:

  • STEM
  • Healthcare Sector
  • Skilled Trades Occupations
  • Agriculture and Agri-food sector
  • Transportation Sector
  • French Language Skills

Who can get an ITA for permanent residency in new EE category-based draws?
