NEW SINP PNP pathways introduced for skilled workers in demand

Saskatchewan has a high demand for foreign workers from the agriculture and healthcare sectors. So much so, that NEW SINP PNP pathways introduced for skilled workers in demand

The key highlights of the announcement are as follows:

  • Firstly, Saskatchewan is facing a high labour shortage in the healthcare and agriculture sectors.
  • Secondly, to curb the same, the province announced the launch of the Agriculture Talent Pathway and Health Talent Pathway.
  • Also, as per Saskatchewan’s immigration and career training minister Jeremy Harrison, these two pathways perfectly align with the province’s labour market and economic needs.
    • The economy will strengthen its agriculture sector by having a specific SINP pathway for agriculture. This is important when there is a rise in job vacancies in the agriculture sector. Also, agriculture plays a higher role in revenue generation with C$3.2 billion worth of exports in 2023.
    • Similarly, a single dedicated stream for the healthcare sector will match the goals of the Human Health Resource (HRR) plan.

 

Who can apply to the SINP Agriculture Talent Stream?

If you wish to apply to the new SINP PNP pathway – Agriculture Talent Stream, then you must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Firstly, have a minimum English/French language skills requirement of CLB 4. However, some regulators or employees may ask for a higher range.
  • Secondly, have a minimum of high school education or higher education level.
  • Either have a 1 year of work experience in their intended occupation (780 hours) within 3 years OR
  • Have 6 months of work experience (30 hours per week) with an employer who has given a Job Approval Letter.
  • Besides, you agree to work and settle in Saskatchewan.
  • Moreover, you must have a full-time job offer in the agriculture sector from the province. To prove the same, you can submit a Job Approval Letter.

 

Who can apply to the SINP Health Talent Stream?

As a healthcare professional if you wish to apply to the SINP PNP Health Talent Stream, then you must meet the following eligibility terms:

Base Eligibility Criteria

  • Firstly, qualify to get a licensure to practise (as applicable).
  • Secondly, have a degree (bachelor’s (3-4 yrs), master’s (1 or 2 years), or diploma (2 years) that relates to their occupation.
  • Also, agree to work and settle in Saskatchewan.

 

Applicants who do not have an Express Entry (EE) Profile

  • Firstly, have a minimum English/French language skills level of CLB 5.
  • Either have a 1 year of work experience in their intended occupation (780 hours) within 3 years OR
  • Have 6 months of work experience (30 hours per week) with an employer who has given a Job Approval Letter.
  • Besides, if your work experience is not with a supporting employer then you must have a minimum of 1 year of work experience in the past 5 years in your occupation.

 

Applicants with an Express Entry (EE) Profile

  • Firstly, have an active and valid Express Entry profile and a job seeker validation code.
  • Secondly, have a minimum English/French language skill level of CLB 7.
  • Also, have a minimum of 1 year of work experience in the past 5 years.

 

Why does Saskatchewan need new SINP PNP pathways for in demand skilled workers?

Saskatchewan is growing at a rapid pace in terms of popularity. Yes, it is true. Because of lower tax rates, housing costs and rentals, foreign workers are now moving towards Saskatchewan.

However, to meet the urgent rising job vacancies in the healthcare and agriculture sectors, the province needed to create single-stream pathways for these workers. Besides, Agriculture is the top profit-earning industry whereas healthcare is the need of a growing population.

So, in such a case, the province is giving a fast-track pathway to get a SINP PNP nomination and later a Canada PR visa.
