AAIP Accelerated Tech Pathway

The AAIP Accelerated Tech Pathway helps applicants who are working or have a job offer from an Alberta based employer. Under the program, their applications will be processed quickly and easily.

The program selects applicants from the Express Entry pool. As a result, to apply to this pathway you must meet the following terms:

  • Firstly, apply to the Express Entry (EE) System.
  • Secondly, applied to 1 of the EE sub-streams:
    • Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
    • Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
    • Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
  • Also, meet Human Capital Factors such as:
    • Age
    • Education
    • Work Experience
    • Language Skill Level
  • Besides, applied to the AAIP Alberta Express Entry Stream.
  • Moreover, have a CRS score above 300.
  • Further, agree to live in the province.


What factors increase your chance of getting an NOI under the AAIP Accelerated Tech Pathway?

Once can increases their chance of getting an NOI if they meet one or more following terms:

  • Have a valid job offer from an Alberta employer.
  • Have graduated from a post-secondary institution in Canada.
  • A parent, child, brother or sister is either a permanent resident residing in Alberta or a Canadian citizen living in Alberta.
  • The applicant’s first language is French.


What factors can decrease your chances of getting an NOI under the AAIP Accelerated Tech Pathway?

In case you meet the following 1 or more factors then your chances of getting an NOI are low:

  • EE profile is going to expire in 5 months or less.
  • The primary occupation on the EE profile meets the following terms:
    • Is listed under the High-wage and low wage occupations in Alberta.
    • Comes under Alberta Opportunity Stream Ineligible Occupations List.
    • There is a huge volume of application submissions under all AAIP streams.


Applicant Selection Process – 
Assessment criteria

To be able to apply to this stream, the applicant must first meet the following terms:

  • Have an active Express Entry (EE) profile in the EE pool.
    • The applicant’s occupation must support the province’s economic and labour market needs.
  • Meet the terms under 1 of the EE sub-streams such as:
    • Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
    • Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
    • Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
  • Agree to live and work in the province.
  • Must have a minimum CRS score of 300.

Who can not apply to get a nomination under the Alberta Express Entry stream?

One can not apply to the AAIP EE stream if the applicant is:

  • A refugee claimant or are involved in a federal appeal or are under a removal process. Because the AAIP does not interfere in the federal refugee claim, appeal or removal process.
  • Currently, have an active nomination under any of the AAIP sub-stream.
    • Active nomination refers to unexpired and or eligible for extension.
    • Because applicants are only eligible for one AAIP nomination certificate.

Alberta job offer terms

The Alberta employer must meet the following terms:

  • The employer must be registered, incorporated by or is under an act of the legislature of a territory, province or the Canadian parliament. And the employer is running a business in Alberta, and
  • The employer must not hold more than 10% of the voting shares of the business.

The job offer from an Alberta employer must meet the following terms:

  • Is continuous, paid work
  • Is full-time work. This refers to a minimum of 30 hours/week.
  • The employment must be for 12 months or more.
  • The wages and benefits must be at par or be more than the provincial minimum wage.
  • Work location must be in Alberta.

Steps to Apply to the AAIP Accelerated Tech Pathway

To be selected under the AAIP Accelerated Tech Pathway you must do the following:

  • Submit an Accelerated Tech Pathway form.
  • If you meet the eligibility terms for the stream, you will get an invitation to apply for the same.
  • Meet the assessment criteria to qualify to apply:
    • Are not a refugee claimant or are involved in a federal appeal or are under a removal process. Because the AAIP does not interfere in the federal refugee claim, appeal or removal process.
    • Currently, do not have an active nomination under any of the AAIP sub-stream.
    • Do not have a past AAIP application proving that you currently do not qualify to re-apply to AAIP.
    • Have an active EE profile in the EE pool. Also, have a minimum CRS score of 300.
    • Meet terms for 1 of the EE sub-streams such as FSW, FST and CEC.
    • Are working full-time in Alberta or have a valid job offer from an Alberta employer.
      • Primary occupation must match that mentioned in the EE profile.
      • The occupation is eligible under AAIP.
    • Have a valid immigration status.
    • Finally, agree to work and settle in Alberta.

Getting an NOI

Once the applicant meets all the qualifying terms AAIP will process their application accordingly. If accepted, the applicant will get a minimum of 30 days to apply for nomination.

Apply for Canada PR post Alberta nomination under AAIP Accelerated Tech Pathway

After getting a nomination, the applicant will get an extra 600 CRS score against their EE profile. As a result, this increases their chances of getting an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for submitting a Canada PR Visa application. Moreover, after successful processing by IRCC, the applicant will get a Confirmation of Permanent Residence document which will help them to fly to Canada.
