Labour Market Priorities for Physicians

The Labour Market Priorities for Physicians stream helps Nova Scotia in the hiring of skilled physicians through the Express Entry (EE) system. You can also apply for nomination if you receive a Letter of Invitation from the Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA) or the IWK Health Centre (IWK). If you have the skills and qualification then this stream is the best to move to Canada as a skilled physician. Because not only this stream offers a quick invitation but also allows a smooth transition from your country of origin to Canada.

Who can apply?

To apply to the Labour Market Priorities for Physicians stream meet the following terms:

  • Firstly, have an approved offer from NSHA or IWK. But either as a general practitioner and family physician (NOC 3112) or as a specialist physician (NOC 3111);
  • Secondly, give proof of settlement in the province by submitting signed Return of Service Agreement;
  • Also, get a Letter of Interest from Nova Scotia Office of Immigration (NSOI) through the Express Entry (EE) system;
  • Besides, give a complete application within 30 days of receiving a Letter of Interest;
  • Moreover, meet 1 of the 3 EE streams work experience terms;
  • Further, submit proof of settlement funds;
  • Finally, have legal status in the country of residence.


Approved Opportunity

To apply to this stream, you must have either an approved opportunity or an offer to apply from the NSHA or IWK. Besides, this offer must have been given to apply as either a General Physician (NOC 3112) or a Specialist Physician (NOC 3111).

The Approved Opportunity must meet terms such as:

  • Firstly, be on official NSHA or IWK letterhead;
  • Secondly, must be signed by an authorised person, hiring physicians at the NSHA or IWK;
  • Also, must be signed by the applicant receiving the offer;
  • Besides, meet the terms for the licensing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia; and
  • Further, must prove that you can apply for privileges and credentials with NSHA and IWK.


Return for Service Agreement

Submit a copy of the signed, minimum 2-year Return for Service Agreement, with the Nova Scotia Department of Health and Wellness. Because it shows your intent to settle in the province.


Education Level

You must also prove that you have the required education, medical training for a license in Nova Scotia.

To do so:

 

  • Submit a copy of Canadian degree, diploma, transcripts

OR

  • Copy of foreign education degree, diploma, transcripts;
    • Also, submit an ECA report issued by the Medical Council of Canada.

Note

ECA report must:

  • Firstly, be as per IRCC format and requirement;
  • Secondly must not be more than 5 years old;
  • Also, your ECA report must prove that your foreign education is equal to the Canadian education system.


Language Skills

To qualify under this stream, you must also have a minimum language skill level. To do so you can submit language test results for English/French. Besides to qualify, you must have a minimum of CLB 7 language skill level. Also, your language test results must not be more than 2 years old at the time of applying to the program.

Work Experience

To qualify you must meet the minimum work-experience requirement of one of 3 Express Entry streams such as:


Immigration Status

To apply, meet the following immigration status terms such as:

  • Firstly, must have legal status in the country of residence;
  • Secondly, must not be on a removal order or not allowed to enter Canada;
  • Also, must not be a refugee, or refugee claimant.
  • besides, if in Canada on a work permit, it must be valid at the time of application.
