Atlantic International Graduate Stream

The Atlantic International Graduate Stream of the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) is for applicants who have recently graduated from one of the 4 Atlantic Canada provinces. This refers to provinces such as Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Prince Edward Island. So, if you come under this category then apply to this stream.

Who can apply?

To apply to the Atlantic International Graduate Stream, meet the following terms:

• Firstly, are an international graduate from a designated post-secondary Atlantic educational institution.
• Secondly, have a minimum education level;
• Also, have a minimum language skill level;
• Besides, give proof of settlement funds.
• Further, have a valid job offer from a designated employer in the Atlantic province.

International Graduates

Generally, if you wish to apply to the AIP, then you must show qualifying work experience. However, as an international graduate who has completed their education in 1 of the Atlantic provinces, you need not match this criterion. However, you must meet terms such as:

• Firstly, one must have a minimum education of 2 years from 1 of the post-secondary Designated Learning Institutions (DLI) in 1 of the Atlantic provinces.
• Secondly, you completed your study program as a full-time international student.
• Also, have lived in one of the Atlantic provinces for a minimum time of 16 months within 2 years before your graduation.
• Finally, had a valid visa to study, work and or train while in Canada.

Education Level

To apply to the AIP Atlantic International Graduate Stream, you must meet the education terms such as:

If your Job Offer comes under NOC 2021 TEER 0 or 1

• Have a minimum of 1 year of post-secondary education or higher from 1 of the Atlantic provinces.

If your Job Offer comes under NOC TEER 2, 3, or 4

• Have a Canadian high school diploma from 1 of the Atlantic provinces.

Language Skills

Even if you have studied in Canada you must submit valid language test results for English – IELTS/CELPIP, for French – TEF/TCF. Also, these test results must not be less than 2 years old. Further, they must prove that you have a minimum CLB/NCLC level applicable to apply. 

A Valid Job Offer

After qualifying to apply to the AIP Atlantic International Graduate Stream, you must have a valid job offer from an AIP-designated employer. Also, your job offer must be from 1 of the Atlantic provinces where you will be working (Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, or Prince Edward Island). Besides, the job offer must meet the following terms:

• The job offer must be full-time, continuous, non-seasonal and paid.
• Also, your job offer must match the NOC 2021 TEER category terms such as:
  • Skilled Workers – The job offer must come under TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 categories. Also, the job offer must be for a minimum period of 1 year.
  • Semi-Skilled Workers – The job offer must come under TEER 4 category. Also, the job offer for such workers must be permanent with no employment end date.
• Besides, you or your spouse or your common-law partner can not be owners or have any ownership in the company whose job offer you have.
• Your employment offer must be for a position requiring skills equivalent to your own or higher (for which you qualify as per your past work experience).
• However, for some professions, such as:
  • If you have a job offer in NOC 32101 (licenced practical nurses) or NOC 31301 (registered nurses), you can utilise that as qualifying work experience for NOC 33102 (nurse aides, orderlies, and patient service associates) or NOC 44101. (home health care workers).

NOC 2021 TEER job offer category and qualifying work experience terms

After receiving a job offer, a settlement plan is also required. Because it will make it easier for you and your family to settle in Canada. A Certificate of Endorsement confirming that the Atlantic province you are moving to endorses your job offer must also be obtained after that.

Proof of Funds

All applicants must meet basic financial terms to maintain themselves and their families before entering Canada (if accompanying). As a result, you must give proof of specific funding while applying to the Atlantic International Graduate Steam. This sum also changes according to the size of the family, for example:

Applying for Canadian permanent residence

You must apply to IRCC for a Canada PR visa after meeting all Atlantic International Graduate Stream terms. You must achieve this by submitting a full application for a PR visa that is free of mistakes.

However, you can also apply for a temporary work permit while your Canada PR visa application is being processed by IRCC. As a result, you will be able to work while your application for a PR visa is being processed. However, this work permit has some restrictions, such as:

• To begin with, this work permit is only valid for this AIP stream.
• Secondly, this Canada Work Permit is valid for a year.
• Also, you can work for one Canadian employer only.
• Further, an Open Work Permit may be obtained by your spouse or common-law partner.
