Blended Visa Office Referred Program (BVOR)

The Blended Visa Office Referred Program helps private sponsors from Canada to sponsor refugees in critical situations. Also, this program does the following:

  • Help reduce financial stress on private sponsors.
  • Helps connect refugees who are already screened and reviewed by the Canada govt.

The BVOR program works in link with UNHCR like many refugee referral agencies. These agencies identify, screen, and connect refugees to private sponsors for resettlement in Canada. Also, the Blended Visa Office Referred Program helps private sponsors by giving 6 months of financial aid to refugees when they land in Canada.

Duties of Private Sponsors

  • Firstly, take care of associated start-up costs.
  • Secondly, give financial support for up to 6 months.
  • Also, give 1 year of emotional and social support.

However, the sponsors do not have to cover health insurance costs for refugees. Because Canada gives refugees temporary health insurance until they qualify to get provincial/territorial health insurance.

Who can apply to become a sponsor under the BVOR program?

A private sponsor can not sponsor a refugee on their win. So, to do the same they must be a part of 1 of the following groups:

  • Sponsorship agreement holders
  • Groups of Five
  • Community Sponsors

How to apply for the Blended Visa Office Referred Program?

To apply for this program to sponsor a refugee you must:

  • Select a refugee from the list of BVOR refugees available for sponsorship.
  • Submit a sponsorship application as per the type of your sponsorship group such as:
    • Sponsorship agreement holders
    • Groups of Five
    • Community Sponsors
