First August 2025 Express Entry PNP draw issues 225 invites only. This shows a more selective immigration approach rather than lower selection. In comparison to previous draws this year, the number of Invitations to Apply (ITAs) has come down.
However, such changes are normal, and we can soon see positive outcomes in future draws.

This table shows the trend toward smaller draws with higher CRS cutoffs. The first August 2025 draw issued just 225 invites with a cutoff of 800, up from April’s 785.
The reduced number shows IRCC’s focus on managing application quality and processing capacity. Thus. candidates with a provincial nomination hold a strong advantage, as it adds 600 points to the CRS score. Thus, their chances of getting a Canada PR rise majorly.
While the invite count is low, it does not signal a permanent change in immigration goals. Instead, it aligns with targeted selection for economic needs.
Having a smaller Express Entry PNP draw in August 2025 is not bad news. Rather, it highlights that the draw figures are ever-changing. IRCC holds draws to select the best candidates to fill its rising job vacancies and meet economic needs.
So, first August 2025 draw may have issued just 225 ITAs, but future draws will not do the same. As a result, the Express Entry + PNP pathway still remains the top pathway for getting a Canada PR visa.
After getting an ITA, candidates must submit a complete and error-free PR application immediately. This is to avoid any processing delays or additional documentation requests. If you get an approval, you will get a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) which allows you to enter and settle in Canada with ease.
