The Alberta Law Enforcement Pathway is a dedicated immigration route under the Alberta Express Entry Stream, specifically designed for internationally recruited police officers. This pathway helps Alberta police services attract experienced law enforcement professionals from around the world, offering a streamlined process to Canadian permanent residence.

Who Can Apply for the Alberta Law Enforcement Pathway?

This pathway is for internationally recruited police officers who:

  • Are identified by the Alberta Association of Chiefs of Police (AACP) as international recruits.
  • Have a valid, verifiable job offer from an Alberta police service (AACP member).
  • Meet all Alberta Express Entry Stream minimum requirements.

Alberta Law Enforcement Pathway: Eligibility Criteria

  1. Express Entry Profile
  • Applicants must have an active profile in the federal Express Entry pool.
  • Must meet the criteria of at least one of the federal immigration programs managed by Express Entry (Federal Skilled Worker, Federal Skilled Trades, or Canadian Experience Class).
  • Minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 300.

  1. Occupation Requirements
  • The primary occupation in the Express Entry profile must match the current Alberta employment or job offer.
  • Applicants must be identified by the Alberta Association of Chiefs of Police (AACP) and must have a valid job offer from an Alberta police service that is an AACP member.
  • The job offer must be in one of the following eligible National Occupational Classification (NOC) codes:
    • 40040: Commissioned (management) police officers and related occupations in public protection services
    • 41310: Police investigators and other investigative occupations
    • 42100: Police officers (except commissioned)

  1. Job Offer Requirements
  • The job offer must be valid, verifiable, and from an Alberta police service with a valid AACP membership.
  • The occupation listed in the job offer must match one of the eligible NOC codes above.
  • AAIP will verify the job offer and may request additional information to confirm eligibility.

  1. Intent to Reside
  • Applicants must intend to live and work permanently in Alberta and must have expressed this interest in their Express Entry profile.

  1. Other Minimum Assessment Requirements
  • Applicants and Alberta employers (if applicable) must meet all Alberta Job Offer and Employment Requirements if invited based on a job offer.
  • Applicants must not be:
    • Listed on the Alberta Opportunity Stream Ineligible Occupations list
    • Refugee claimants or subject to the federal appeal or removal process
    • Holders of an active nomination under any AAIP stream
    • Ineligible to reapply to AAIP due to misrepresentation
