Canada Immigration still going strong
Share with :

Canada is still the hottest destination for immigration right now. The world is battling with coronavirus crisis. But Canada is still headstrong to promote immigration.

The country is keeping up its promise in the Immigration Levels Plans 2020-2022. And is working towards reaching the goal of welcoming more than 1 million people in the next 3 years. This announcement too came at a time when COVID-19 was already taking over the world. But despite such a condition, the country chose to table the plan.

Canada is taking various measures to support Canadian employers, businesses, foreign immigrants and its economy.

Measure to uplift and grow the Canadian economy

  • Firstly, the country introduced COVID-19 relief package of $107 billion CAD. This includes emergency aid for workers, aid for tax delays and up-gradation of the health sector.
  • Secondly, IRCC is continuing to process immigration and citizenship applications. It is taking steps to avoid delays in the processing of applications. Therefore, it is giving instructions to apply for citizenship, permanent residence and temporary residence applications.
  • It is giving extensions for deadlines in every step of the immigration process. As it understands that in the current situation it can be difficult to get important documents. Thus it is relaxing the time limit certain steps. Such as for submitting biometrics, medical certificates, police certificates, etc. And is giving an extension of 90 days to do the same.
  • Also, it is making sure no family stays apart. So it is allowing immediate family members of Canadian and temporary residents to enter Canada. But this can only happen if immediate family members prove that they do not have symptoms of coronavirus. Thus, none can enter or exit the country without strict health screening.
  • All applications submitted to IRCC will not be refused or closed. But IRCC is giving instructions that:
    • Files with missing documents will be kept and reviewed in the system for 90 days.
    • All complete applications will be processing as per the normal procedure.
    • If you submit a new application with incomplete documents then you must give an explanation. And this delay must be due to service interruptions because of the new coronavirus.
    • IRCC will allow processing delays for principal applicants. If they are in Canada and have dependants in China, Iran and South Korea. And they can not travel at the moment. Also, IRCC will inform these applicants of the next steps when travelling can be possible.
    • Finally, if applicants have Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) and Permanent Resident Visa (PRV) and have informed IRCC of not being able to travel; they will be able to keep the validity of their documents.

All immigration draws happening as per schedule

Recently, Canada held its Express Entry draw on Mar 04, 2020. And the CRS score for this draw was 300. This is the lowest CRS score the express entry draw has produced in a very long time. And it is expected that the score might drop lower. Thus, it means that Canada will continue to have frequent draws. Also with lower CRS scores more foreign immigrants can apply for permanent residence in Canada.

Similarly, CEC Express Entry draw was on Mar 23, 2020. It is the second draw of its kind since 2015. And this draw too saw a low CRS score of 467, for CEC applicants with a provincial nomination. This score of 467 dropped 3 points from the last cut-off of 470. And is the lowest for this year in all-programs EE draw.

Finally, the country is slowly overcoming from the pandemic. But it knows it can not do so without the help of foreign immigrants. Thus, it continues to roll out measures to help ease the immigration process for foreign immigrants.

Canada wants you on urgent basis!

Yes, the country has a high demand for skilled foreign workers as the coronavirus situation has slowed the economic growth of the country. Therefore, to meet the labour market and economic needs, the country is inviting a large number of skilled workers for Canadian permanent residence.

Furthermore, the govt is hinting that even though COVID-19 might result in a recession, Canada is all set to sail through this situation.

In short, Canada is ready to welcome you. Are you coming?
