Canada is now allowing work permit holders to enter the country. Even If their work permit was approved after the govt issued a travel ban. The recent travel ban was imposed to contain the spread of COVID-19 or coronavirus.
In the earlier ban, Canada was not allowing people to enter the country. Even if their work permit was approved after March 18, 2020. Now applicants with a work permit, including outside the U.S have permission to enter Canada. But they can only do so if they show no symptoms of coronavirus. In addition, travellers can enter from the land if they have no symptoms and promise to self-isolate after entering.
It is now mandatory for all travellers to self isolate for 14 days after reaching Canada. Because the country is taking strict steps to contain the spread of the coronavirus. Only truck drivers who supply daily goods through the U.S – Canada border are exempt from this rule.
Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is making temporary changes to the process of LMIA. This change in Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) applies for agriculture and food-processing employers.
Firstly, temporary resident status applicants can extend their status online. And can remain in the country till a decision comes on their new application. Secondly, If your temporary resident status expires during processing of new application then you can live in Canada on an implied status. Furthermore, travelling to the port of entry and applying to border service directly is not essential travel. And Canada has banned all unnecessary travel in and outside the country. Thus your application will be surely rejected.
