French language skills are now a key to getting an ITA for a Canada PR visa in Express Entry draws. This is true because the latest immigration updates show Canada focusing on selecting people with French language skills. Thus now, French language key to Canada PR success in Express Entry draws 2024.
Express Entry (EE) System is the top Canada PR pathway for foreign workers. Because in 6 to 12 months you can get a Canada PR visa. In 2023, Canada introduced category-based draws. Here applicants get ITAs as per 5 targeted occupations and French language skills.
As per the latest IRCC report, Canada plans to select more applicants from the Express Entry French language skills category. This is evident from the breakdown shared below:
Category-based draws – 78.5% of applicants will get ITAs.
General draws – 21.5% of applicants will get ITAs.
As per the latest updates, Canadian employers face a high shortage of bilingual candidates. Because Canada has two official languages English and French, all work happens in both languages. Thus, French-speaking clients prefer a francophone or bilingual business representative. So, having such employees is a major help for a Canadian employer.
This is why Canada according to its labour market survey and statistics Canada’s reports is now focusing on bilingual or French-speaking applicants. So, Express Entry French language skills category applicants will get more ITAs.
Besides, we also see that bilingual candidates have higher employment prospects in 2024. Until now, everyone was familiar with Quebec selecting Francophone applicants. However, in 2023, immigration minister Marc Miller promised to select 4.4.% French applicants outside of Quebec.
So, by raising the number of Canada PR ITAs issued to French speakers it can meet its set target for the same as well.
In 2023, the frequency and draw patterns were unpredictable. However, IRCC hints at this becoming stable in 2024. So, we should see IRCC holding biweekly draws, 1 general and 1 category-based draw. But we may also expect 2 category draws or a combination of 3 draws once in two weeks.
Thus, Express Entry draws for Canada PR will go up. But we do not know which category draws will be held. This rise in EE draws will also affect the CRS cut-off. As a result, we can expect the cut-off to fluctuate in favour of applicants seeking Canadian permanent residency.
Besides, since 2023, 21,100 French-speaking applicants have PR invites. Whereas in 2024, 12,400 French-speaking applicants have been invited up till now. This figure is the highest amongst all 2024 category-based and other EE draws.
In short, if you have French language skills then your chances of getting a Canada PR visa are higher in 2024. But other category applicants need not worry. Canada gives multiple options for you to move to Canada.
In case, you do not have or wish to get French skills then apply via the Express Entry PNP pathway for better PR success. You can also apply to base PNP streams to get a nomination to apply to IRCC directly for a Canada PR visa.
