Step to apply for a Germany opportunity card

    • Points Based Pathway: Get a minimum of 6 points on the points grid [demonstrate age, education, work experience, language skills.
    • For both pathways, applicants must have €12,324 as proof of funds.
  • Secondly, apply online.

  • Further, book a visa appointment.
  • Finally, get a Germany opportunity card.

Steps to apply for an EU Blue Card or work visa after getting a job offer

Typically, you can choose to apply for a General German work visa or an EU blue card. The difference is that an EU blue card allows you to work anywhere in the Schengen area. Often a majority of people apply for EU blue card.

Germany work visa 

Step 1 – Check your eligibility

  • Firstly, your foreign qualification must be recognised in Germany. However, licensed professionals must meet licensure requirements.
  • Secondly, have a full-time, paying, regular job offer from a German employer.
  • Also, if above the age of 45, your job offer must pay you at least €49,830 (as of 2024) or provide proof of adequate provision for retirement.

Step 2 – Make an appointment at the German embassy.

  • Prepare all supporting documents for your work visa and book an appointment at the German embassy.
  • Submit a complete work visa application.

Step 3 – Work visa confirmation.

  • Finally, get a German work visa in 2 weeks.
EU Blue card

To apply for an EU blue card, do the following.

  • Firstly, your foreign qualification must be recognised in Germany. However, licensed professionals must meet licensure requirements.
  • Secondly, have a full-time, paying, regular job offer from a German employer.
    • Minimum 6 months job offer.
    • Job offer matches your academic qualifications.
    • Job offer gives an annual salary of €45,300 (as of 2024).
  • Also, for job offer in a bottleneck profession
    • Annual salary must be at least €41,041.80 (as of 2024).
  • Besides, the following are considered bottleneck professions in Germany (including but not limited to):
    • STEM
    • Manufacturing, mining, construction, and distribution managers
    • Information and communications technology service managers
    • Professional services managers (childcare, healthcare, education managers)
    • Academic professionals in architecture, spatial planning, and transport planning
    • Medical doctors
    • Veterinarians
    • Dentists
    • Pharmacists
    • Academic and comparable nursing and midwifery professionals
    • School and out-of-school teachers and educators etc.
  • Moreover, submit an EU blue card application.
  • Finally, get an EU blue card for 4 years.
