What is a Red White Red Card?

The Red White Red Card is for non-EU skilled workers, international graduates and highly skilled professionals who qualify to live and work in Austria. 

 

Who can apply under the RWR Card program for Austria?

  • Very Highly Qualified Workers – A minimum of 70 points is required to apply.
  • Skilled Workers in Shortage Occupations – A minimum of 55 points is required to apply.
  • Other Key Workers –
    • Employer to pay a statutory monthly payment of € 3030 (2024).
    • No other listed qualified worker registered with AMS is present to take the job offer.
    • Have a minimum of 55 points to qualify to apply.
  • Graduates of Austrian Universities and Colleges of Higher Education
  • Regular Workers in Tourism, Agriculture and Forestry
    • 7 months of work experience within 2 years as a registered seasonal worker.
    • German language skills at A1 level.
  • Self-employed Key Workers
    • Have € 100,000 minimum investment or,
    • Your occupation creates new jobs or secures old jobs.
    • Your occupation shares knowledge of new technology.
    • The occupation has higher significance for the entire region.
  • Start-up Founders
    • Set up, run, and control a business in Austria.
    • Minimum € 50,000 investment and 50% equity shares.
    • Have a minimum of 50 points to qualify to apply.

Please note, that each category has separate eligibility terms such as education level, work experience requirements, point system etc.

 

How do you get the Red White Red (RWR) Card?

If you wish to work and live in Austria, then you must do the following:

Step 1 – Apply for Austria Job Seeker Visa

This is the best and fastest way to enter Austria without a job offer. This is a hassle-free process that allows you to:

  • Firstly, enter Austria for 6 months.
  • Secondly, search and apply for a job in Austria.
  • Also, convert your Austria Job Seeker Visa to Austria Work Visa (RWR card – 2 years validity).
    • Besides, after 21 months on the RWR card, you can apply for an RWR plus card. This permits you to live and work in Austria for another 1-3 years.

Furthermore, the Austria Job Seeker Visa does not require you to have a job offer or language skills (including German language).

 

Step 2 – Enter Austria and apply for a Job
