New Brunswick to issue 2750 nominations in 2025

On Feb 05, 2025, NB acting post-secondary education minister announces the reduction in 2025 PNP allocation for New Brunswick. Also, the minister stated that it will be challenging for the province to fill its job vacancies and meet its economic needs. As a result, this brings us to the update, “New Brunswick to issue 2750 nominations in 2025.”

Besides, after getting a reduced allocation of 1750 from the Canadian federal government, New Brunswick is adopting tighter measures to tackle the new issue. The province will be selecting applicants from key sector areas such as healthcare, construction and education. However, it will also offer additional support to certain other sectors.

Besides, New Brunswick’s plan the 2750 nominations in 2025 will be split between New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP) and the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP).

  • NB PNP – 1,500 PNP nominations in 2025.
  • AIP – 1,250 PNP nominations in 2025.

Which NB PNP streams have changed or have new eligibility criteria?

New Brunswick Express Entry Stream

This stream will be accepting new EOI applications under 2 sub-streams such as:

  • Employment in New Brunswick pathway
  • New Brunswick Interests pathway

Also, NB will not be processing applications from the following occupations. As they do not qualify to get nominations out of 2750 nominations in 2025:

  • Administrative assistants – NOC 13110.
  • Restaurant and food service managers – NOC 60030.

  • Cooks – NOC 63200.
  • Bakers – NOC 63202.

Besides, the province is no longer continuing the New Brunswick Student Connection stream in 2025. Thus, these applicants can further apply to:

  • NB Skilled Worker Stream
  • NB Strategic Initiative stream for francophone applicants
  • Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP)

New Brunswick Strategic Initiative Stream

This stream is not accepting new applications as they have sufficient PNP applications to process. Also, the ‘In-person exploratory visit to NB” connection under this stream has been on pause since 2024. Also, the same is applicable for 2025.

New Brunswick Skilled Worker Stream

The stream will start accepting EOI applications in the coming weeks. So, you can apply under any 1 of the sub-streams such as:

  • NB Work Experience pathway

What is the scope of getting a PNP nomination under NB PNP with 2750 nominations in 2025?

New Brunswick is feeling the brunt of the slashed PNP allocations to 2750 nominations in 2025. However, it is too early to state whether this may change in the upcoming months.

Unlike NB, Newfoundland and Labrador also received a 50% reduction in PNP allocation. However, they were able to negotiate with the federal government and agreed to take in 290 humanitarian immigrants for the next three years. As a result, they can recover the PNP allocation loss. Besides, it is estimated that the province can reduce this loss by 2.3% in comparison to 2024.

So, as a Canada PR aspirant, there is no need for you to shy away from applying for a PNP nomination. Because if you have the skills that the Canadian province needs then you will surely get a nomination.
