Nova Scotia shared its latest update on the immigration targets. The province is all set to select a total of 5340 applicants and an addition of 1173 slots for the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP).
The current target update shows a 75% rise compared to 2021. This is also due to the province’s continuous efforts to focus on increasing immigration. As a result, the province is also investing $1.4 million for people to settle successfully in Nova Scotia. Also, it is spending an extra $895,000 to hire more staff to run its immigration programs smoothly.
Looking at the past draw figures, the province added a total of 9025 Canada PR holders in 2021. Now, this is a 19% rise in figures as compared to the previous highest figure of 2019. Apart from the immigration targets, the province also invited 500 Ukrainians under Canada Ukraine Authorisation for Emergency Travel.
The Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) is the province’s way of getting foreign skilled workers. This helps the province to meet its targets. And make sure their economy is growing. But looking at the overall higher job vacancy rate, NSNP will help in the selection of filling such gaps.
Besides, the AIP too helps in getting the benefits of immigration to Nova Scotia. It targets the Atlantic provinces and helps Canadian employees to hire foreign workers without the need for an LMIA. The program in 2021 selected a total of 1564 people and helps Nova Scotia to increase its population up to 1 million.
