MIFI selected 23 profiles for Quebec immigration under the Arrima portal. The invited candidates are from the 18,000 affected profiles from June 2019, Bill 9. The Quebec govt earlier announced that the draw will take place near Jan 16, 2020. This means that this is the last round of draw for applicants getting affected by Bill 9.
Bill 9 is an immigration reform passed by the Quebec govt to gain max immigration control. The govt now controls who can apply and what role will they have in the growth of the province. This move has been criticized by immigration lawyers, federal govt and applicants. As this bill has affected 45,000 people who submitted their profiles between 2005 and August 2008. Although, Quebec govt argues that Bill 9 will reduce application processing time from 36 months to 6 months.
In fact, the province is facing a 20.7% decrease in the number of immigrants. The immigrant number dropped from 51,125 (2018) to 45,545 (2019).
The Quebec govt selects skilled people under Quebec Regular Skilled Worker Program. If you want to apply for selection, then you can apply through the Arrima portal. Arrima portal is an electronic application system. This system helps in processing of profiles on a ‘first-come, first-served basis’. You can apply through the portal to get a Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ). To do so, you must meet the terms of the program. CSQ helps you in applying for permanent residence in the province.
