This is a permanent visa.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>An individual might be able to get this visa\u00a0if:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>They are outside Australia<\/li>\n<li>They are living outside their home country<\/li>\n<li>They are persecuted in their home country.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If a member of the individuals immediate family was granted this visa in the past five years, they can propose the individual for this visa under \u2018split family\u2019 provisions. They must also be outside Australia when a visa is granted.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What this visa allows for: \u2013<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This permanent residence visa allows an individual to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Stay in Australia indefinitely<\/li>\n<li>Work and study in Australia<\/li>\n<li>Enroll in\u00a0Medicare, Australia\u2019s scheme for health-related care and expenses<\/li>\n<li>Access certain social security payments<\/li>\n<li>Apply for Australian citizenship (after they have lived in Australia for four years)<\/li>\n<li>Propose or sponsor family members for permanent residence<\/li>\n<li>Attend English language classes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If they want to travel outside Australia, they will need to get a travel document. After five years, they will need a Resident Return Visa to re-enter Australia.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cost<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are no costs associated with this visa, unless the individual is applying under the<a href=\"#\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u00a0Community pilot<\/a>. The Australian Government pays for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Travel costs to Australia<\/li>\n<li>Other costs before they leave for Australia, including medical examinations and cultural orientation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The individual can include the following people in their visa application at the time of lodgement:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Their partner (married or de facto)<\/li>\n<li>Their or their partner\u2019s dependent children<\/li>\n<li>Other dependent relatives.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These family members must meet the requirements for\u00a0including family members in the application. They could be asked to provide evidence of their relationship with the applicant.
