{"id":7654,"date":"2025-05-15T13:25:55","date_gmt":"2025-05-15T13:25:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/webtechnomind.in\/work\/global-vision-Immigration\/?page_id=7654"},"modified":"2025-05-15T13:39:26","modified_gmt":"2025-05-15T13:39:26","slug":"post-graduation-work-permit","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/webtechnomind.in\/work\/global-vision-Immigration\/post-graduation-work-permit\/","title":{"rendered":"Post Graduation Work Permit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Apply for a Post Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) if:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Have graduated from a designated learning institution (DLI) in a Canadian province, and<\/li>\n<li>Want to temporarily work in Canada.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Besides, an applicant can choose to apply either from inside or outside of Canada.<\/p>\n<h5>Terms to apply<\/h5>\n<p>An applicant can apply within 180 days of receiving final marks for its study program in Canada. Also, to qualify, the applicant\u2019s study permit must be valid within these 180 days.<br \/>\nIn case the study permit is expiring, the applicant can choose to apply for 1 of the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Apply for a visitor record to increase the period of stay in Canada; or<\/li>\n<li>Leave Canada and then apply for a Post Graduation Work Permit (PGWP).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Besides, if the applicant\u2019s study permit expires while it is in Canada then they must apply to restore their status as a student. Because this will qualify them to apply for a PGWP.<\/p>\n<h5>Applying for Post Graduation Work Permit (PGWP)<\/h5>\n<p>Apply for a PGWP, if you meet terms such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The study permit is valid.<\/li>\n<li>Have a valid visitor record.<\/li>\n<li>Have applied to extend the study permit before it expires but a decision is yet to be made.<\/li>\n<li>Applied to change the status to a visitor before the study permit expires. But a decision is yet to be made.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Additional terms to meet<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Firstly, have completed a study program:<\/li>\n<ol>\n<li>At a designated learning institution.<\/li>\n<li>For a minimum study period of 8 months, and<\/li>\n<li>Have a degree, diploma, or certificate.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<li>Secondly, had full-time status as a student during the period of the study program.<\/li>\n<li>Also, have graduated from 1 of the following:<\/li>\n<ol>\n<li>Public, a post-secondary educational institution such as college, university, trade\/technical school, or CEGEP in Quebec.<\/li>\n<li>A Quebec recognised private post-secondary educational institution.<\/li>\n<li>A Quebec recognised private or post-secondary educational institution that offers study programs of 900 hours or more leading to a dipl\u00f4me d\u2019\u00e9tudes professionnelles(DEP) or an attestation de sp\u00e9cialisation professionnelle (ASP).<\/li>\n<li>Besides, if an ESP is less than 900 hours then the applicant can combine with DEP to meet the term.<\/li>\n<li>Under a Canada recognised private education institution which has the permission to award degrees (Associate, Bachelor\u2019s, Master\u2019s, or PhD degree). Also, were enrolled in a program that leads to a degree as authorised by the province.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h5>Who can not apply for a Post Graduation Work Permit (PGWP)?<\/h5>\n<p>Do not apply for a Post Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) if:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Already have a PGWP.<\/li>\n<li>Were studying English or French as a second language.<\/li>\n<li>Have taken general interest or self-improvement courses.<\/li>\n<li>Took part in Government of Canada Awards Program funded by Global Affairs Canada.<\/li>\n<li>Received funding from Global Affairs Canada. Besides, an applicant who has received a study in Canada sponsorship can still apply for a PGWP.<\/li>\n<li>Received the Equal Opportunity Scholarship, Canada-Chile.<\/li>\n<li>Took part in the Canada-China Scholars\u2019 Exchanges Program.<\/li>\n<li>Took part in the Organization of American States Fellowships Program.<\/li>\n<li> Have completed a large part of the study program through distance learning.<\/li>\n<li>Have completed the study program in Canada at a non-Canadian educational institution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>If the passport is expiring before the PGWP<\/h5>\n<p>In case the applicant\u2019s passport is expiring before its PGWP then the applicant can get:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A PGWP as per the validity of the passport, or<\/li>\n<li>Get instructions to extend the validity of the PGWP.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Special cases<\/h5>\n<p>If the applicant belongs to the following groups, then it may qualify to get a PGWP:<\/p>\n<h5>Accelerated programs<\/h5>\n<p>If the applicant completes its study program earlier than the time of the study program, they may qualify for a PGWP. Also, the validity will be as per the full length of the study program.<\/p>\n<h5>Distance Learning<\/h5>\n<p>Under this, if the applicant has completed its study program and distance learning only takes less than 50% of the total study program length then it can qualify for a PGWP. Also, the validity will be as per the full length of the study program.<\/p>\n<h5>Leave for studies<\/h5>\n<p>Canada will not issue a PGWP if the applicant:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> Has taken unauthorised leave from the study program.<\/li>\n<li> Also, does not meet the terms of the study permit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Transfers between schools<\/h5>\n<p>If transferred between designated learning institutions (DLIs)<\/p>\n<p>To qualify for a PGWP, the total period of studies must be a minimum of 8 months to be eligible.<\/p>\n<h5>If transferred from a non-DLI to a DLI<\/h5>\n<p>To qualify, the applicant must spend at least 8 months at the DLI.<\/p>\n<h5>Canadian study programs with an overseas component<\/h5>\n<p>In case the study program has an overseas component, then the applicant must earn credit from a Canadian school, to qualify for a PGWP.<\/p>\n<h5>Flight school graduates<\/h5>\n<p>To qualify for a PGWP, a flight school graduate must meet all the terms listed above, and 1 of the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> At a DLI training centre \u2013 have completed a flight training course and have a Canadian commercial pilot\u2019s license<\/li>\n<li>have or will be getting an instructor\u2019s rating and a DLI flight training centre is giving a job offer as a flight instructor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Graduates of certain Quebec schools<\/h5>\n<p>Quebec graduates of vocational and professional training programs must meet terms such as:<\/p>\n<h5>Institution<\/h5>\n<p>Must have graduated from a recognized:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>public secondary school<\/li>\n<li> private secondary school<\/li>\n<li>private post-secondary school<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Degrees, diplomas, and certificates<\/h5>\n<p>To qualify, degrees, diplomas and certificates must be issued by the government of Quebec.<\/p>\n<p>These include the following:<\/p>\n<h5>Public or private secondary schools<\/h5>\n<p>        dipl\u00f4me d\u2019\u00e9tudes professionnelles (DEP) (diploma in vocational studies)<br \/>\n        attestation de sp\u00e9cialisation professionnelle (ASP) (attestation of vocational specialization)<\/p>\n<h5>Private post-secondary schools<\/h5>\n<p>        dipl\u00f4me d\u2019\u00e9tudes coll\u00e9giales (DEC) (diploma in college studies)<br \/>\n        attestation d\u2019\u00e9tudes coll\u00e9giales (AEC) (attestation of college studies)<\/p>\n<h5>Length of Study Program<\/h5>\n<p>The applicant\u2019s study program must have been full-time, and for a minimum of 8 months for a dipl\u00f4me d\u2019\u00e9tudes coll\u00e9giales (DEC) or an attestation d\u2019\u00e9tudes coll\u00e9giales (AEC).<\/p>\n<p>Also, for a (DEP) or an (ASP), the length of the study program must have been a minimum of 900 hours.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Apply for a Post Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) if: Have graduated from a designated&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"inline_featured_image":false,"footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-7654","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry","entry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v25.7.1 (Yoast SEO v27.0) -
