The child must have certification from the New Zealand Police that they are believed to be a victim of people trafficking. If granted a student visa, the child\u2019s primary or secondary school study will be publicly funded.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Visa Eligibility:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">A child victim of people trafficking<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">The child must have certification from the New Zealand Police that they are believed to be a victim of people trafficking.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">What does this visa allow for:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Send the child to a primary or secondary school in New Zealand \u2013 they\u2019ll be treated asdomestic students.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Allow a child aged 16 or 17 to work after school, in the weekends and in the school holidays \u2013 they\u2019ll need the permission of their parent or guardian, and their school.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Things to note:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">The child can apply for a resident visa straightaway.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">The child will have access to publicly funded health and disability services.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">The child will have access to financial assistance provided under the Special Needs Grants Ministerial Welfare Programme.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Visa conditions:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">If an individual is granted this visa, there are certain conditions that are described below that they must meet:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Study \u2013 <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">School-aged children can study at primary or secondary school.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Work \u2013 <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Students\u00a0 studying in year 12 or 13, the last 2 years of secondary school can work up to 20 hours a week during the school year and full-time in the Christmas and New Year holiday period between school years.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Students under 18 must have written permission from their school, and parents or legal guardian to work.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Students over 18 don\u2019t need permission to work in the summer holidays.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">When they have a job in New Zealand, they have to pay tax on their earnings. They\u2019ll need to have a New Zealand bank account and an IRD number to do this. Students under the age of 16 are not granted work rights.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">The children aren\u2019t allowed to be self-employed. They have to work as an employee with an employment agreement and not as an independent contractor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Visa expiry \u2013 <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">The child must leave New Zealand before their visa expires.
