Children who want to\u00a0go to\u00a0a tertiary education institution, like a university or polytechnic, should apply for a Fee Paying Student Visa.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Visa conditions<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">If an individual is granted this visa, there are certain conditions that are described below that they must meet:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Study \u2013 <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">School-aged children can study at primary or secondary school.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Work \u2013 <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Students studying in year 12 or 13, the last 2 years of secondary school can work up to 20 hours a week during the school year and full-time in the Christmas and New Year holiday period between school years.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Students under 18 must have written permission from their school, and parents or legal guardian to work.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Students over 18 don\u2019t need permission to work in the summer holidays.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">When they have a job in New Zealand, they have to pay tax on their earnings. They\u2019ll need to have a New Zealand bank account and an IRD number to do this.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Students under the age of 16 are not granted work rights. The children aren\u2019t allowed to be self-employed. They have to work as an employee with an employment agreement and not as an independent contractor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Visa Expiry \u2013 <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">The children must leave New Zealand before their visas expire.
