During their stay here they can avail New Zealand\u2019s high-quality teaching standards and gain internationally recognised qualifications.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Visa Eligibility:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">An exchange student<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Meets the character requirements<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">What this visa allows for:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Study full-time in New Zealand in a school-to-school exchange, an exchange programme organisation scheme or a tertiary exchange.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Work part-time up to 20 hours a week while studying or full-time in the holidays, depending on the age and how long the study is for.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Things to note:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">An individual can only apply if they\u2019re outside of New Zealand.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">They don\u2019t have to pay tuition fees, as they\u2019re considered a\u00a0domestic student.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Student exchange schemes may include school-to-school (or sister school exchanges), exchanges organised by exchange programme organisations and tertiary exchanges.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Visa conditions:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">If an individual is granted this visa, there are certain conditions that are described below that they must meet<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Entry permission \u2013<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\"> The individual must apply for entry permission when they arrive in New Zealand. They can do this by completing an arrival card, which they\u2019ll be given on the way to New Zealand.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">They individual can be refused entry permission if:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">They do not meet the character requirements<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Their circumstances have changed since they were granted a visa<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">They refuse to let their photo be taken or to provide their fingerprints or an iris scan when asked to do so.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">They\u2019re unable to provide evidence of any onward travel or funds required by the conditions of their visa.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Travel \u2013<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\"> \u00a0If an individual wants to travel in and out of New Zealand, they must have valid\u00a0multiple entry travel conditions\u00a0to return to New Zealand.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Their travel conditions will be explained on their visa label or visa letter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Onward travel \u2013 <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">They must have a travel ticket or a guarantee from their New Zealand Student Exchange Scheme organizer that they\u2019ll arrange for them to leave at the end of their stay.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">They may be asked for evidence of their travel arrangements when they check in or arrive in New Zealand.\u00a0 If they\u2019re not required to provide evidence, It\u2019ll be recorded in their visa label or visa letter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Work \u2013 <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">If their student exchange scheme is for one\u00a0academic year\u00a0or more, they can work part-time for up to 20 hours a week and full-time during all scheduled holidays.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">If they\u2019re 16 or 17, or in year 12 or 13 at secondary school, they must have written permission to work from their parents, school and Exchange Provider Organisation. If they\u2019re 18 or over, they don\u2019t need permission to work in the summer holidays.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\"><br \/>\nPractical Experience:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">They\u2019re allowed to work, to meet a requirement of practical experience for their programme of study in New Zealand if practical experience is a course requirement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">When they have a job in New Zealand, they have to pay tax on their earnings. they\u2019ll need to have a New Zealand bank account and an IRD number to do this.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">They aren\u2019t allowed to be self-employed. They have to work as an employee with an employment agreement and not as an independent contractor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">They can\u2019t provide commercial sexual services or operate a business that provides these services. Childr<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2777 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20230206074323im_\/https:\/\/gvimmigration.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/world.jpg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 236px) 100vw, 236px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20230206074323im_\/https:\/\/gvimmigration.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/world.jpg 236w, https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20230206074323im_\/https:\/\/gvimmigration.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/world-150x150.jpg 150w\" alt=\"\" width=\"236\" height=\"236\" \/>en under 16 who have a Student Visa will not be granted work rights<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Attendance and Progress- They must study\u00a0full-time\u00a0and attend their course at the\u00a0approved education provider\u00a0noted on their visa unless they have a reasonable excuse for absences.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">They must make satisfactory progress on their course.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Visa expiry:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">They can stay in New Zealand until their visa expires.
