The children can be treated as domestic students, which means they don\u2019t have to pay tuition fees to go to a primary or secondary school.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Visa Eligibility:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">The child must be a dependent child<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Must be under the age of 19<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Must meet the character requirements<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">This visa allows the:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Dependent child join their parent in New Zealand.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Dependent child study at a primary or secondary school in New Zealand.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Dependent child be treated as a\u00a0domestic student, which means they don\u2019t have to pay tuition fees for them to\u00a0go to\u00a0school.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Things to note:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">If the child wants to study at tertiary level, they should apply for a Fee Paying Student Visa\u2019 instead.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Dependent children of work visa holders aren\u2019t eligible for this visa if their parent\u2019s work visa was granted for a working holiday, for a Silver Fern or Skilled Migrant job search, to work in seasonal employment, or to work as crew of a fishing vessel.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Dependent children of Student Visa holders are only eligible for this visa if one of their parents is in New Zealand for an approved student exchange scheme, is enrolled in a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme in a New Zealand university, or has a New Zealand Aid Programme Scholarship<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Visa conditions:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">If you are granted a visa, there are conditions that you must meet. These visa conditions are described below.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2783 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20230206073025im_\/https:\/\/gvimmigration.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/thumb.xlarge.page_image_666.1-300x144.jpg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20230206073025im_\/https:\/\/gvimmigration.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/thumb.xlarge.page_image_666.1-300x144.jpg 300w, https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20230206073025im_\/https:\/\/gvimmigration.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/thumb.xlarge.page_image_666.1.jpg 700w\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"144\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Entry Permission \u2013 <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">The individual must apply for entry permission when they arrive in New Zealand. They can do this by completing an arrival card, which they\u2019ll be given on the way to New Zealand.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">They individual can be refused entry permission if:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">They do not meet the character requirements<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Their circumstances have changed since they were granted a visa<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">They refuse to let their photo be taken or to provide their fingerprints or an iris scan when asked to do so.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">They\u2019re unable to provide evidence of any onward travel or funds required by the conditions of their visa.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Travel\u00a0\u2013 <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">If the children want to travel in and out of New Zealand, they must have valid\u00a0multiple entry travel conditions\u00a0to return to New Zealand. If they\u2019re applying from inside New Zealand, they\u2019ll normally give their children multiple entry travel conditions when they\u2019re granted a Student Visa.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">If their children don\u2019t have multiple entry travel conditions and they leave New Zealand, their visa will expire. The child\u2019s travel conditions will be listed on their visa label, or in a visa letter<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Onward travel (children of work visa holders)\u00a0\u2013 <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Dependent children of work visa holders must have the means to leave New Zealand at all times during their visit. This can be in the form of any of the following:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">A travel ticket<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Enough money to buy a travel ticket<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">A financial undertaking<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Sponsorship by an acceptable sponsor.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">If their child\u2019s visa label or letter doesn\u2019t say Return\/onward ticket not required\u2019 or The holder of this visa is sponsored\u2019, they may be asked for evidence of their travel arrangements when they check in or arrive in New Zealand.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Funds or sponsorship (children of student visa holders)- they must have enough money to support their child while they\u2019re in New Zealand, or the child must have a sponsor or guarantor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">If their child\u2019s visa label or letter doesn\u2019t say Financial evidence not required\u2019 or The holder of this visa is sponsored\u2019, they may be asked for evidence of funds when they arrive in New Zealand.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Work\u00a0\u2013 <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Students studying in year 12 or 13, the last 2 years of secondary school can work up to 20 hours a week during the school year and full-time in the Christmas and New Year holiday period between school years.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Students under 18 must have written permission from their school, and parents or legal guardian to work.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Students over 18 don\u2019t need permission to work in the summer holidays.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">When they have a job in New Zealand, they have to pay tax on their earnings. You\u2019ll need to have a New Zealand bank account and an IRD number to do this. Work rights are not granted to students under 16.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">The children aren\u2019t allowed to be self-employed. They have to work as an employee with an employment agreement and not as an independent contractor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Visa expiry\u00a0\u2013 <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Oswald', sans-serif; font-weight: lighter; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">The child must leave New Zealand before their visa expires.
