Sports & Youth Welfare

Sports and youth welfare initiatives are paramount in the Mising Autonomous Council (MAC), fostering the holistic development of the Mising youth and promoting community cohesion. Recognizing the importance of sports in promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and leadership skills, the MAC organizes various sporting events and tournaments throughout the year. These events encompass traditional Mising sports like archery, indigenous wrestling (Dhopkhel), and traditional boat races (Jonbeel Mela), as well as modern sports like football and volleyball. Moreover, the MAC invests in youth welfare programs aimed at empowering young individuals through education, skill development, and entrepreneurship opportunities. Youth centres and clubs are established to provide a platform for cultural exchange, talent development, and community engagement. Additionally, the MAC offers scholarships, vocational training, and career counselling to support the aspirations of Mising youth. By promoting sports and youth welfare, the MAC aims to nurture a generation of well-rounded individuals who are physically fit, socially responsible, and empowered to contribute positively to the development of their community and beyond. These initiatives also play a vital role in preserving Mising cultural heritage and fostering a sense of pride and identity among the youth.
